(These recs come directly from the fic rec community I run with storydivagirl called Polyfannish Rec Whores)

*new* The Paperwork by greeneyedgirl42--Ten/Rose--Rose has some questions when the Doctor shows up on her side of the rift. Written for the Happy!Who challenge and featuring some future Who spoilers (the return of an old face). PG-13 Rose and The Doctor sat on the plush couch in her office. They were sitting so close together that there was no real space between them. He looked over her shoulder at the clipboard she had resting on her lap.

*new* War Widow and Inconceivable by dancinbutterfly--Ten/Rose--Part of an ongoing post-Doomsday AU, but complete stories in their own rights. Rose is pregnant and the Doctor's a world away, but guess who's on hand to help deliver the baby? (Hint: it's another doctor we know.) PG “You excited?” Dr. Jones asked conversationally as she placed her stethoscope over Rose’s rapidly beating heart. “My brother Leo just had his first a few months ago.”

*new* Sleeping Arrangements by fid-gin--Nine/Rose--A short, sedate post-ep for The End of the World. PG And he shows no signs of stopping now, twirling dials and flipping switches, a living wire of a not-man almost visibly sparking, and it occurs to Rose, stomach full of chips and crashing on too much adrenaline and stifling a yawn against the back of her hand, that she is exhausted.

*new* Misconceptions by castrovalva9--gen--Just what WOULD the neighbors think of all the Tylers' shananigans? This is a funny story from a great outsider POV. PG Then one day, I heard this terrible groaning, wheezing noise nearby, and who should I see strutting up the stairs but Rose, at long last. She actually paraded into her mum's flat like she'd only been absent a day instead of a year. It turns out she was off gallivanting around the world with an older man, and not a word to her mum the entire time. Not so much as a postcard. Shamefully disrespectful, I call that.

*new* Predicament by Asano--Ten/Rose--It's fluffy and pointless flirting between Rose and the Doctor. Rose has found herself in a bit of a pickle, but she's unwilling to let the Doctor help. “Rose, I swear…if you don’t tell me what is the matter with you, I’m going to subject you to full body scan. They hurt, and more importantly, they take forever to do. So, all in all, it would serve both our interests if you would stop being a prat and just tell me what hurts!”

*new* Star Dust by aibhinn--Ten/Rose--A quiet moment between Rose and the Doctor that works very well. PG Impulsively Rose turned onto her side, looking at the Doctor. "Let's give it one, then," she suggested. "Give it a name of its own. Won't be official or anything, but at least it'll have one."

*new* Universal Safety Net (The 10 Seconds Remix) by lizbee--gen--Written for remix_redux, this story is about Jackie and Mickey on Earth, waiting for ten seconds. Lovely. The last line of two killed me. G Jackie breathes slowly, until the tears have stopped pricking at her eyes. She shifts her weight, and something crunches underfoot. A flier, rumpled and torn, but still legible. Have you seen Rose Tyler?

*new* The Mind of Shiva (The Vishnu Overdub) by siryn99--Ten/Rose--Written for remix_redux, this is a lovely look at series one and two from the perspective of the TARDIS. PG It's a bit obscene, this affair he's having with this planet. Well, he must be in love with it, or something like love, because he returns here again and again, and he never gets tired of it. He's woven himself into its history almost seamlessly and because it soothes him, I can't resent him for it. In this way he is like so many other aliens, craving what only this planet seems to be able to give him.

*new* Rose's Choice by goldy_dollar--This story doesn't sugarcoat a reunion between the Doctor and Rose, which I enjoyed. PG But things were finally going well in Rose’s life. Steady job. Good boyfriend. House with a mortgage. She was moving on, living the same adventure as every other human being on the planet.

*new* One Horrid Thing That Never Happened to the Doctor by nostalgia--Oh, just silly fun! "Actually," he said, fiddling with the console, "we'd better get you back home. Your kid'll be worried sick about you. I'd hate to have you listed as a Missing Person or something."

Homecoming by aibhinn--Rose/Ten, Rose/OMC--Rose's life post-Doomsday, and her attempt to lead a fantastic life. PG One day, Rose is cleaning her teeth before bed and realises with a start, I've not thought of him all day. From the time she'd awakened, all through the busy day at Torchwood, and into the evening, she'd somehow not thought of the Doctor once.

The Doctor's Final Message by honorh--angst warning! When the Doctor loses Rose in the alternate reality, he comes up with the way to say good bye. It took a few hours, but finally, the Doctor worked out how to do it, to speak to Rose one last time so they could both say goodbye. He knew how much she had to be hurting. That wasn’t what he wanted for her, to grieve what she’d lost. Being able to say goodbye might help her to move on with her life and make it as fantastic as he’d always wanted for her.

Doors by spastasmagoria--This story is post-Doomsday. Rose is doing some research in the library and runs into an interesting man. I love the careful way that they speak to each other, both trying hard not to mess up the future. This is the first story in a series, and in my opinion, it's the strongest. The man smiled, folding the paper. “Fair enough. I’m just curious that the Whetcomb papers still circulate.” He held out a hand. “Hello. I’m the--” he stopped when Rose’s eyes shot upward, meeting his with sudden intensity. “Last person to be pulling those off a shelf, I bet.” Scratching his cheek, he wagged a finger at her. “You looked like you fully expected me to say something else, there,” he said with an unworried laugh.

Instant Pudding by solielle--Ten/Rose--This is a fluffy little fic about Rose and her very understandable fear of the Tardis's kitchen area. PG-13 And Two: The Doctor’s love of tinkering didn’t end with the console room. The refrigerator had somehow acquired four temperature cases, instead of the standard two. Now there was “cool”, “ice”, “long-term storage” and “hell dimension”. Since the sticker on the side boasted of three separate compartments, she knew one of them was his fault, but Rose couldn’t quite work out which one. The refrigerator came from Lucifer, after all.

The Smallest Version of Paraguay by voleuse--Rose/Ten--After Parting of the Ways, Rose tries to come to terms with the Doctor's regeneration, but finds she is having some real difficulty. I like the short scenes and the spare way that this story was written. PG-13 "But that wasn't you," she replies, puzzled. "That was the Doctor." His smile snaps away, and she feels it like a punch to the gut. "Oh," she says. "Right."

Momento Vita by katemonkey--Jack/Rose (sorta)--In a slight AU to Parting of the Ways (Jack stays with them), the Doctor's companions are having trouble with his regeneration and find comfort in each other. It's kinky and a little twisted and I really like it. NC-17 There's a fight. Or a crisis. Or some other major event. Neither of them can remember what happens, because it all fades away when Jack comes to get her and sees her clutching the jacket in her sleep. He stops, his mouth open slightly in surprise. He stares at her, still surprised, watching her as she wakes up.

A Thousand Languages by madlori--This one is almost too schmoopy for my tastes, but the language is lovely. She really has a way with words. It explores the idea that Rose is different from the other companions, which I don't know if I buy, but once you let go of the indignation on behalf of companions past, it's easy to get into this story. I like the way that time travel is used for one aspect of this story that I won't give away by describing. PG-13 She nods. “I’m so happy, Mum,” she says. What she doesn’t say is that she’s happy in a way that can’t be talked about, she loves him in a way that can’t be said out loud, and her life rolls on without comment or description because it doesn’t fit inside words, none of it does. She just puts her head on her mother’s shoulder, feeling that she’s made it smaller by saying even that much; then she sees him watching them through the doorway, and in his eyes she feels it grow too large again, and she says nothing more.

I Sustain the Wings by Doyle--Rose/Ten--Post Parting of the Ways, Rose mourns Jack and begins to understand a bit about the Doctor and his lifestyle. "And it works both ways, future as well as past. Sometimes I'll go to a place and there'll be people looking at the TARDIS as they go by, hardly even seeing it, and there’ll be one person that looks just a wee bit longer than everybody else. And I'll think, is it just ‘cause they're bored on the way to work and they want the distraction of wondering why this dirty great blue box is sitting in the middle of Regent Street - or are they remembering some old family fairytale about great-great-granny's misspent youth when she ran away with a man from space?"

Accent by uktechgirl--Post Parting of the Ways, the Doctor is fiddling around with his accent and clothes and personality to try and find one that suits him. Received Pronunciation doesn’t go with his chin. A valleys singsong is tempting, because he thinks he’s probably a nice bloke, a friendly bloke, down to earth, practical, but he doesn’t have the right colouring. His nose tempts him north, to Manchester, to Salford, but it wouldn’t be fair to her. It’s got to be Earth, though: something she knows.

When the World was Flat by MH--Post Parting of the Ways, Rose is having strange dreams she can't understand about the Game Station. Later, they run into an old friend. I love fics where Jack comes back to travel with Rose and the Doctor. "Replaced already? I've heard about your collection of strays, Rose, but I think my heart just broke a little." Rose's eyes widened and her head whipped around. "Jack? Jack. Jack."

Sense series by Gillian Taylor--Ten/Rose, Ace--There's some fun play with time in these two stories when Ace makes an appearance to have a few more adventures with her Doctor. As the summary says: only with time travel could you meet someone for the first time the second time. PG-13 "Hello, Ace," the Doctor — had to be him, she rationalised — said with a wide smile. There was something in his eyes, though, that belied the joviality of the expression. Almost as if he knew something terribly important, but was withholding it until he could be certain of her reaction.

Think of Something by lightgetsin--Pre-Rose, the Doctor has just regenerated into Christopher Eccleston, and he's devestated by the fact that he didn't die along with the rest of the Time Lords. During his travels, he meets a man, an old friend, but one he doesn't yet know. I love the last line. The Doctor sighs, shakes his head, and goes out for a look. The TARDIS has tucked herself nice and neat up against an ATM. The man getting money boggles at the Doctor when he emerges. The Doctor waves, then turns in a slow circle to orient himself. Britain, definitely — there’s a dodgy cart selling chips and mushy peas parked in front of a Starbucks across the road. Wales, if he doesn’t miss his guess, and he rarely does.

Song For Rose by Camilla Sandman--Rose/Nine--This is an alternate ending to PotW where Nine survives the time vortex, but there's a twist at the end that's lovely and angsty, but still nice. Camilla does a great job of showing us a whole lifetime of experiences between Rose and Nine in only a few thousand words. Mature She's gotten used to kissing him, the feel of his lips against hers, though in a slightly getting-used-to-have-won-the-lottory way. There is still the little moment of joyous rediscovery in moments like this and she hopes that never fades. The moment she gets too used to it, too used to this mad life in the TARDIS is probably the moment it comes to an abrupt halt. Superstition, perhaps, but she still clings on to her moments of awe.

Passing By by Camilla Sandman--Nine/Rose--The Doctor never could say no to Rose, so when she asks to see his previous self one last time, he can do nothing but comply. Poor, poor Rose. PG-13 "Something wrong? Is the beast of Fna come a century too early? Did you accidentally open for an alien invention? Did Jack seduce another planet leader? Do I have to make a housecall?" He pauses, giving her a long look. "Did a time storm change your clothes?"

Guy Fawkes Has Nothing On Us by Miss Pamela--Mickey/Jake--A lovely snippet of what life is like for Mickey and Jake. Not nearly long enough. The way Jake looked at him in that moment was the same way that Rose looked at the Doctor when he did something particularly brilliant. If Rose were here, if she'd stayed and saw what they'd just done, she still wouldn't look at Mickey like that.

The Terminus of Prayer by cadhla--This is all about Nine, Rose and Jack thinking about their lives and loves during "The Parting of the Ways." PG He's loved them all, the ones that danced with him, the ones that stood aside, all of them, even the ones who didn't stay, the ones who didn't mean to come, the ones who hurt him...all of them. How could he do anything but love them? They've been all he had, and now they're gone, not a one of them living in this time and place, not even Jack, one floor below and blown out just like a candle. Jack be nimble, Jack be quick...but it's over. He's loved them, and he still loves them, and he misses them all. Even Rose is dead now, dust for twenty thousand years. Everything dies.

Vast Eternity by cyropi--This is the story Jack, Rose and the Doctor saw Woman Wept, with the frozen waves. It's a great introspective and perceptive Jack voice, and I love the affection he feels for Rose and the respect he feels for the Doctor. He heard Rose gasp, felt a warm curl of satisfaction at the sound. Very few people could help wanting to make Rose happy, as far as Jack had seen. The Doctor certainly couldn't. And Jack couldn't blame him, either.

Perpetual Motion by Meredith--After the Time War, the Doctor has to come to terms with surviving and being alone. The TARDIS helps him cope. I love the foreshadowing to later episodes. PG He dispenses with this diabolical scheme easily and wonders how Five is doing with the giant mutant rats downtown. Well enough, he remembers, assuming he still exists here. There's so many reasons he might not.

The Smell of Safety by honorh--post-The Parting of the Ways, Rose finds she misses the little things about Nine. General. There, that’s it. Leather, a touch of wool, and a slightly metallic tang, like (blood) the TARDIS herself. Tears prick her eyes, and she can’t even say why.

Roundabout by Casira--I love all of these vignettes about the adventures had by Rose, Jack and the Doctor. PG-13 The Doctor just grins cheerfully, ignoring the massive smear of goop across his nose, and hauls up the alien's severed head for a closer inspection. "Well, that's done, then." He swivels the head around to face her. "Charming fellow, eh?"

Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast by RD--It's Rose and Ten in snippets, disjointed and clever. PG And one time, the Doctor lets Rose take the helm, standing behind to catch her hand should it stray off course. “Where will we end up?” she asks, loosening her grip on a lever, nudging a button. The TARDIS seems to answer with a guttural rumble. The Doctor’s hand drifts to Rose’s waist, inconspicuous.

Sundries and Oddments by themonkeycabal--More snippets of Rose and Ten. I like them in snippets, because I think that it corresponds to their manic, exciting relationship. PG "Never saw you in one. Oh, wait, I did. In a picture of you with some family before the Titanic. Clive had it." She pauses and shakes her head with sad fondness. "Poor Clive. He was a bit of a nutter -- well, more than a bit -- but it was sort of like he really wanted to believe you were real, but wasn't quite sure he did."

Pipe Dreams by RD--Rose has started having dreams about what happened on Satellite Five while the Doctor tries to hide the truth from her. "Could do," the Doctor says, never one to miss a beat. "It'd make customs and excise hell to get past, though." Rose feels herself smiling back already, and perches on the end of the desk. "What's up?" the Doctor asks gently, when her words are not forthcoming.

Local Customs by Mireille--Jack, Rose and the Doctor commit a little faux pas and have to bluff their way out of it. "Told you," the Doctor said. "Rose, come here and hold this." He held out the sonic screwdriver. "I need to keep it aimed at this bolt here, and I don't have a third hand."

find the map and draw a straight line by passionflows--Ten/Rose--A post-Doomsday fic that won't make you feel like you want to die.

“So,” Yvonne says, legs crossed as she sits on Rose’s sofa with her paper container of rice and chopsticks sits precariously on her lap in front of the binder, “next week we’re having the Torchwood head of Cardiff come in, his name is, uh, can’t read this print, too fucking little – oh. Jack Harkness. He’ll be in and meeting with you.”

do i dare disturb the universe? by daygloparker--Ten/Rose--Set between New Earth and Tooth and Claw, Rose deals with Cassandra's romp in her body and kissing the doctor.

And then, for no reason, her voice changes and she blurts out, "I'm sorry."

Perversions (Heretofore Unpracticed On a Most Willing Body) by Regala Electra--Ten/Rose--The doctor has to acquaint himself to his new body and what he likes, and Rose gladly helps him along. Hot!

He wants everything because he’s selfish and really, there’s no one to outright call him selfish, save him, there are no other equals, not anymore, and well, that’s selfish of him, really, calling himself selfish, isn’t it?

A Triumph of Necessity by mswyrr--Ten/Rose--This is just a short little look into their relationship and the way that the Doctor loves surprising Rose and seeing things through her eyes.

The human body wasn't quite up to snuff, he thought, tinkering with the console's wiring. It wasted resources madly. Rose's body needed food and rest in enormous quantities. And, due to some evolutionary silliness, the human reproductive system cycled constantly. It responded to anything, from genetically incompatible aliens to inanimate objects.

A Sort of Man by Kate Andrews--Ten/Rose--I really like this story because I think it's such a great Ten voice. It shows him getting acquainted with his new body and his new mind and learning what sort of a man he is. The author does a great job showing the ways that Ten is so much different than Nine. Not different bad, just different. Also, predatory Doctor is really just too hot to imagine. Yum.

She is aware of him in the way that an adult human female is aware of an adult male. She is not uncomfortably aware of him as a man, and perhaps she should be.

He has no doubt that she will.

At Last by Tara LJC O'Shea--Ten/Rose--After Parting of the Ways, Rose tries to get used to the new new Doctor. This fic does a good job showing all that Rose feels she's lost and, eventually, all she's gained.

Under the spray of hot water from the shower, she didn't notice she was crying at first. It was a quiet kind of crying that made her chest ache and throat feel like she'd swallowed a burning coal.

Open Your Eyes by elen ancalima--Ten/Rose--Another post-Parting of the Ways fic, and I like the way the Doctor deals with Rose's sadness.

A knock at the door tore her out of her thoughts. She hugged her knees tighter. She wasn't in the mood for talking. If she waited long enough he might just go away, like the last four times.

Ivory and Horn by Tara LJC O'Shea--Nine/Rose--The Doctor and Rose have a row and the Doctor takes a calming walk by himself. Of course, because it's the Doctor, things don't go exactly as planned.

Pushing off the bench, she advanced on him, hands balled into fists at her sides. "You asked me to come with you, remember? You asked me, and I said yes, and I'm not going anywhere. Not unless you toss me out on my ear, and lock the door behind you."

Like Riding a Bike by Camilla Sandman--Nine/Rose--The Doctor cheers Rose up after she has a near miss.

"I'm sorry, Rose," he whispers against her ear, breath ragged. "I have to get you back to the TARDIS. This place is about to explode. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."

Sooner or Later by GylzGirl--Nine/Rose--It's interesting that I loved the flashbacks to the time immediately after the Doctor's eighth regeneration (into Christopher Eccleston) even more than the scenes with Rose. They're just so real, and I love the idea that the TARDIS takes care of the Doctor.

He smiled tiredly. "I'm sorry. Haven't we met before? I can't quite place it." He swayed on his feet a little and caught himself on her doorway. When he did, she saw a blue police box parked on her lawn.

18 Seconds by katemonkey--Nine/Rose--This is the story of what the Doctor did in the 18 seconds it took him to reappear and take Rose away at the end of the premiere.

He goes further and further, pushing the TARDIS as far as it wants to go, laughing as it sizzles and shakes and creaks against the strain of it all.

Remarkable by libertinette--Nine/Rose--A nice, sexy scene that is intense and emotional.

She caught her breath; The Doctor caught his as he brought two fingers to rest just under her shirt, grazing her bellybutton. She wondered, at that moment, if he had a bellybutton. If he had a body like a human man. She'd never stopped to think about it before, always assumed that he would in all her dark dreams. She almost panicked and stepped back, fled from the excitement of his desire.

Lovers, 'Tis Almost Fairy-Time by Raven--Nine/Rose--Rose wants to know what love is, and the Doctor knows just the people to ask.

In the console room, she complained, “You could have told me I was gonna meet Shakespeare. I’d have brushed my hair again.”

Curiosity by fearlessdiva--Nine/Rose--Rose has some questions that she's dying to have answered.

"Yeah, curious. Nothing wrong with a little curiosity, that's what you're always saying, right?"

Outside Chance by 11nine73--Nine/Rose--A nice post-ep for Dalek.

He stared down at her, his face unreadable. “What difference would telling you make? You'd just feel responsible and probably guilty and it wasn't your fault and I can deal with it myself.”

Thank Your Lucky Stars by anniesj--Nine/Rose--Rose has a nightmare.

For Mickey's thirtieth birthday, she buys him a leather coat. He calls it "too swanky" and never wears it. Another little fracture line ripples through Rose's heart; the baby within her stirs fretfully.

Five Planets Rose Tyler Never Visits by Mireille--Nine/Rose--Just what it says. An interesting look at the relationship between Rose and the Doctor, and how much he trusts her.

She braced herself for another comment about the stupidity of humans, but it didn't come. Instead, he just looked at her, his head tilted to one side, like he was studying some strange alien species--which, in a way, she supposed he was. "You're serious," he said at last.

Top of the World by Miss Pamela--Nine/Rose--A nice, bittersweet post-ep to World War III.

Rose couldn't help it; he was smiling and close and he was…he was hers or she was his in a way that she didn't understand – maybe because they kept saving the universe together, except that wasn't it, exactly – and he was bloody gorgeous besides.

Birthday Girl by the_royal_anna--Nine/Rose--Rose turns 20. Very sweet.

She nods as she reaches across to take the sonic screwdriver. "M'hm. You're taking me to…I know, right – your best memory. Ever. Take me there – where it happened, I mean."

Petals by Kate Andrews--Ten/Rose--This is just hot, no other way to put it. Ten is a bit naughty, at least when compared to Nine, and I can see him doing something like this.

He stood up and she held on and the tie slid smoothly from his collar. This was something that had become part of their routine shortly after he started wearing the suit and tie. She couldn't even remember how it started, and it wasn't like she undressed him, but she pulled his tie from his collar one time, and ever since . . . it was one of their things.

The Best Sort of Question by Casira--Ten/Rose--Rose finds herself flustered by the Doctor's new appearance.

The reason she didn't mean to mention, of course, was that he was still barefoot and barely dressed, and touseling his hair, and it only took him moments to notice she was staring at that waterdrop sliding down his neck and making its way toward the suddenly-fascinating slant of his clavicle, so she really felt she had to say something.

By Any Other by Casira--Ten/Rose--As much as I love Ten's suit, I admit that sometimes I really miss Nine's coat. So does Rose.

And so she retreats into privacy, huddles into his forgotten coat and dreams—dreams of the hands she remembers, warm and steady on her arms, and that light pouring through them like molten gold.

Valentine Roses by Casira--Ten/Rose--Rose is sad about missing Valentine's Day, and the Doctor makes it up to her.

"We could go back, couldn't we?" she suggested, while stepping back into the TARDIS. The Doctor looked up from his controls, his eyebrows lifted. "I mean... if we miss something. Like, if I had -- tickets to a concert and you forget to get us back in time, we could just skip right back on over and pop in anyway, right?"

This Kiss by dallyra--Ten/Rose--Rose is going crazy trying to sort out her lost memories at the end of The Parting of the Ways.

She closed her eyes, trying to conjure back the images that this latest dream had brought. It was the same, a deluge of thoughts, violent light and a burning in her mind… That, and the delicious sensation of having someone’s lips against hers.

Downtime by Cryptile--Ten/Rose--An explanation of the time gap between The Christmas Invasion and New Earth.

The reasons he does not give her for why they do not leave on that enchanted December night, the snow (ash) piling up around their ankles as they stare at the stars:

What Does the Sky Reply by cadhla--Ten/Rose--Rose is having an understandably difficult time adjusting to the Doctor's regeneration, but she gets some help from one of the Doctor's old friends.

Maybe, said a small, analytical part of her mind -- one of the few bits of 'Rose' that hadn't quite checked out yet, although it was considering following the rest -- this is actually shock. Like soldiers get when they come out of the war.

Mockingbird I and II by icebluenothing--Ten/Rose--This has such an interesting premise! Rose has to decide who to put her faith in - Ten, or Nine, who has mysteriously reappeared in Cardiff asking her for help.

That voice. The same voice, the one she heard sometimes in dreams still. Saying her name the way no one else had ever said it -- claiming her, owning her with a word.

The Doctor. Her Doctor.

How to Live by Camilla Sandman--Ten/Rose--The Doctor has to help Rose regain her confidence after a particularly traumatic event.

He laughs, and when he hears the door open, Rose clings to him, her fingers clawing into his back. His turn again now, and she knows, already shaking her head. Still will enough left in her to hold on to him, then, and he feels an almost perverse joy at it.

Worlds In Conjunction by Marylane--Ten/Rose--Oh, this one HURTS. It HURTS, but it's GOOD. OUCH, though. OUCH.

By the second night among the masses, she’s been mugged twice (once with nothing much left to take) and the superphone is lying shattered upon the bulkhead below her. A casualty of her useless attempt to fight back.

City of Loss by gwynnega--Post-The Parting of the Ways, Rose can't get over the way the Doctor's changed, and so he brings her to an old friend to help her figure it out. So angsty and beautiful.

The man turned around and regarded her with blue eyes that gave her a jolt of familiarity. "You're not Romana," he said mildly. "And I'm the Doctor."

Dreamers Often Lie by Camilla Sandman--Rose/Nine--Rose is captured and being tortured into forgetting the Doctor. Only Rose is stronger than she looks.

"I am Rose Tyler and I travel in time with the Doctor! It's not lies! He'll come for me! He'll come!"

Indomitable by Kate Andrews--Ten/Rose--You know that Ten's acute sense of taste would turn up in fics, didn't you?

The Doctor grabbed her head, brushed her hair back, and dragged his tongue up her neck. She heard a few of the guests gasp.

Belle de Jour by Chase--Ten/Rose--A terrific look at Rose and how she sees herself and her relationship with the Doctor. It's post-The Girl in the Fireplace, and Rose is doubting her place in the Doctor's life after Reinette. I think the author has a good grasp of Ten's manic, silly and sometimes slightly sinister personality. (Rated R)

“Rose?” He tries to catch her gaze in the mirror, but she keeps her eyes away. Opens a jar of lily of the valley lotion and begins rubbing it in, forcing a casual smile. More force to keep the edge from her voice.

A Light in the Dark by Arabella--AU!Nine/Rose--Post-Doomsday, an AU Ninth somehow feels that someone on Gallifrey survived the Time War. He goes searching and what he finds is something he never would have imagined. (Rated T - I have no idea what that means)

There is a light in the darkness. It’s barely a pinprick in a sea of black, but it’s there nonetheless. It’s dull, less of a light itself than it is the potential to be light one day. In the five years since Gallifrey’s destruction, it is the first sign of life he’s found. It shocks him. Nothing should be able to grow from charred remains and salted fields. He is drawn to it by a sense of familiarity. He wants to hold it close, to weep for the beauty of it.

Forever One and Two by centaurea_m--Ten/Rose--Two AU endings to the story of Rose and the Doctor. The first one is lovely. The second one is too, though it's also quite angsty. Both are very well written, and very believable. PG-13

She sat down cross-legged on the precipice while the wind danced her hair to a frenzy. It began to rain. Her hair slicked to her head and her clothes darkened and seeped with cold. A grey thunderhead hung in the sky over what she presumed was the North Sea. By the time the lightning came close enough for her to see it she was half-asleep with cold and delirium, pinching her white arms to keep from nodding, walking furiously up and down to stop his return from appearing deceitfully in every wave, every trick of the wind, every shape in the grass: still too shocked to cry.

Never A Choice by Camilla Sandman--Nine/Rose/Ten--Can someone please explain to me why there aren't reams upon reams of Nine/Rose/Ten threesome fics? I really don't understand how this is possible. It's hot, it's angsty, it's wish fulfillment. It's pretty much everything a good fic should be, tailor-made right there in the premise! Anyway, Ten and Rose accidentally meet Nine when he's caught in a time paradox. NC-17

She isn't really listening. Step by step, she nears him, fighting the urge to throw herself into his arms. He really is here. He really is alive, and he doesn't have to die and she can have him again and hold his hand and do everything she's always wanted to and never got around to.

What the Doctor Forgot by Camilla Sandman--Nine/Rose/Ten--Again, with the awesomeness. This time Rose runs into a version of Nine that doesn't know her yet, and they save Ten from evil poultry. The author does a good job of capturing Nine after the Time War and before meeting Rose. NC-17

"Rose Tyler," he says, as if tasting the name and trying it out. "How did you get my number, Rose Tyler, and why are you acting as if I know you?"

"Because you do," she says, and he looks almost amused as she reaches into his leather jacket and takes out the slightly psychic paper before handing it to him.

"Rose Tyler, future companion. Bronze medal, under-7s gymnastics team. Slapping mother, beware," he reads, then looks at her and grins madly, so madly her heart jumps. "Fantastic."

Ghost in the Machine by Rain--Ninth era gen--Rose gets lost in time on the TARDIS and runs into the Doctor's "father" and his other companions. Meanwhile, Nine and Jack race to get her out. (No rating given, I'd put it at PG)

He watched her thoughtfully. There was a peculiar intensity to his gaze. It reminded her of the Doctor, in one of his more alien moods.

As if reading her mind, he said:

"You have a great deal of faith in him - in `your´ Doctor," he smiled, as though at a private joke. "Don´t you?"

Give and Take by Kate Andrews--Ten/Rose--Rose helps the Doctor become more acquainted with his new body. NC-17

It's just another afternoon of dress up, this time with the corsets and of course she needs his help. Of course he indulges her, when doesn't he? And when doesn't the Doctor have an eye on her? This time is no different, but it doesn't feel the same. He thinks she doesn't feel it, but she does.

Loss by Airavanya--Rose/Ten--a nice episode tag for The Age of Steel. The Doctor doesn't react quite how Rose expects him to, and that's quite lovely. PG-13

She’d never dreamed that losing Mickey would leave her feeling so… hollow. After all, she’d left him. She’d kissed him on the cheek, grabbed a stranger’s hand, and run off to see the universe. She wasn’t supposed to feel like this.

Ariel by centaurea_m--Rose/Nine--I can't get enough of the Doctor taking Rose to see Shakespeare. There's something sort of...real about it. Like seeing Shakespeare really hammers home the fact that they are time travelers somehow. Also, I have a bit of a soft spot for The Tempest. PG

‘Yeah. I liked it better on stage,’ she says, frowning. ‘This reminds me too much of school.’ She folds the book and puts it aside and he realises she was reading the introduction. ‘Didn’t realise he dies so soon, though.’

Come Tomorrow by Camilla Sandman--Rose/Ten--The Doctor has some second thoughts the morning after. No Rating.

Humans die. Yes, but Rose is alive now.
Rose trusts him. Rose is not a child, though.
Rose is in his care. Hey, sex can be care.

A la Carte by Rain--Rose/Nine--A cute story about the Doctor taking Rose out to dinner in France. All Ages.

"You should have seen me when I was younger. I was a right old git."

Facets by padawanpooh--Rose/Ten (Rose/Nine)--In order to save the Doctor, Rose must visit all of his previous incarnations. This story gets a bit schmoopy at the end, but after Rose's journey, you sort of feel like she's earned it. PG-13

As she concentrated she suddenly felt hands on her shoulders, the Tenth Doctor, and then she suddenly felt the presence of the other Doctors, unseen, all around them. She felt her concentration suddenly sharpen still further until she could hear the wheeze of the Tardis’s engines.

Pamplona Not Barcelona by Kate Andrews--Rose/Ten--Bull racing in Spain, and Rose getting goosed by Hemingway. PG

"I hadn't thought about that in a while is all. And yes, you're right. Let's go to Pamplona rhymes with Barcelona."

Novelty by Marylane23--Rose/Ten--A nice little journey with Rose and the Doctor. There's angst and humor and snogging. Jack makes an appearance, and it's a bittersweet moment that makes you feel for Rose. PG-13

The TARDIS repairs them in 30 seconds flat, but from then on any mention from her of how wonderful something looks, and she is subjected to a lengthy discourse on the vision-related travails of the poor heroic Doctor and his horrid spectacle-hating companion.

The Life Fantastic by honorh--Rose/Nine--First of all, can you think of a better name for a Ninth story, because I can't. This is a simply gorgeous story starting pre-series one and chronicling the Doctor's gradual realization about his feelings for Rose, and the way that Rose saves him. PG-13

The Doctor jabbed furiously at a loose connection. “It’s just an old man’s embarrassing crush on a girl who makes him feel young again. Satisfied?”

Parts by regala_electra--Rose/Ten--This is a lighter story about Rose trying to deny and ignore her feelings for the Doctor. NC-17

“Someplace fun,” he promises, and she hopes that there aren’t any evil masterminds lurking about in Vegas. No, she makes a hasty correction: she hopes that none of these evil masterminds are trying to take over the world tonight as that will require being thwarted by Rose and her trusty sidekick, the Doctor. Yes, excellent, The Amazing Adventures of Rose Tyler, traveler extraordinaire, and the Doctor. “What are you smiling about?”

Chrysalis by sangga--Rose/Nine--Nine tries to ease Rose into the idea of regeneration before he tells her. It makes the end of the first series a bit AU then, because it was written before it aired. R

One room has a collection of multi-coloured scarves.

One room has a cricket bat standing in the corner.

She can't figure it all out.

Unraveling by goldy_dollar--Rose/Ten--Post-Doomsday, this story is angst with just a bit of hope sprinkled at the end. You can sense Rose's determination to get back. To find the Doctor again.

“How can I date, Mum? It’s absurd, really.” She can’t help but chuckle. “Me? Dating? I’ve been to the year five billion. I saw the Earth explode.”

Elsewhen by Ms B--Rose/Nine--A non-linear story that travels back and forth in time. No Rating.

The first time she hears both of his heartbeats she falls out of bed. He peers over the side of the mattress -- a marvelous feather bed nearly the size of her flat -- and grins.

Deshabille by sanggra--Rose/Nine--All of the different times that Rose dressed up for the Doctor. PG

And then the second time, when she gets a bit sick of her own clothes and goes in search of a change, and comes out in a long frilly skirt with some sort of high-necked jacket, he looks, and blinks, and lifts his eyebrows and says:
